What Makes a Good Day?

by Cheryl Merrick

To some that may mean
traveling to distant places
To others staying home
and “Getting things done!”

Adventurous souls might trill
spending a day river rafting
While others are satisfied
just to sit doing needlepoint

Some, reveling in reality,
fill their days with
gardening, home repairs
cooking, and errands,
While others become
completely immersed
in a world of imagination.

Some energetically hit balls
and run races,
leaving those more
intellectually inclined
to happily spend hour upon hour
with their computer.

To a gregarious person
an evening spent with friends
would make the day,
but a reflective soul
would sigh contentedly
to spend an afternoon
curled up with a good book.

What makes a day good?
Ask the person having it.
