Waiting

Seeing you huddling

    behind your wall,

I toss over notes of love,

offering you the love 

    you were unable to give to me;

Til, sorrowfully,

I must finally accept

that you are unable to feel my heart;

to either give or receive love.

A pat in passing
Sharing events of our day
Discussing news and ideas
Expressing concerns
Solving problems
Giving hugs
Taking care of one another
Making plans together
Helping each’s dreams happen
Seeing the other’s potential
Believing in good intentions
Ignoring thoughtless acts
Forgiving and forgetting
Sharing our talents
Patiently teaching each other
Becoming more together than alone
Giving all, Receiving all,

Dust

Like dust drifting down

Slowly obliterating precious petroglyphs,

My life was slowly being suffocated by

Sad memories, and the anger of frustration

 and unfulfilled expectations.

Seeking help. I prayed.

The wind of forgiveness came,

and I let the dust go.

Justice and Mercy

to mercy

Absolute Justice
was his demand

Til experiencing
its crushing weight,

He cried out,
Mercy!
