For Me

by Cheryl Merrick

He knows me.
He knows my pains.
He is aware of my hidden sorrows.

Knowing that my burdens are
more than I can bear,
He willingly suffered,
so my burdens could be light.

He has paid for all,
making the wrongs right,
and healing my heart.

He is there to help me,
strengthen, and comfort me,
so I never have to face life alone.

Through His love for me,
He has set me free.

Fulfillment

by Cheryl Merrick

Encouraged by society to
“Seek her fulfillment”,
the mother leaves the
“Stifling environment of home”
and enters
”the liberating work force.”
Where she is promised
“stimulating adult communication”,
“recognition of her abilities”,
and “money to buy all the things she wants.”

Walking With The Lion

by Cheryl Merrick

Feeling crowded by his presence,
We walk through the darkness,
Bemoaning our lack of freedom,
Until, in the light of day,
we behold the deep precipice,
and falling on our knees
in humility and gratitude,
give thanks for
His loving protection.

Force

by Cheryl Merrick

Claiming a just God
“Wouldn’t let this happen”,
they relegate Him
to the position of a mere pawn
who carries out their desires.

With power they want
others’ actions controlled,
but not theirs.
While others are to be forced
to do what they want,
they should be allowed
the freedom
to make mistakes.
