Blogging

by Cheryl Merrick

Like drawing upon the sand
my thoughts disappear,
wiped away
with each incoming wave of details
as I "get to work".

"What does it matter?"
I disparagingly mumble,
"No one cares about my 'great thoughts' anyway".

After five published articles,
I was tired of trying to match style and goals
with magazine editors,
besides, though a good percentage,
only a third of my articles were ever published.

Suddenly, a new vista appeared.
No longer was I scribbling on the sand,
but master of my own ship!

Happily now like messages in bottles,
I send my thoughts out upon the sea of life,
where they are gathered by the internet
into the boats of receptive minds.
