Blame

by Cheryl Merrick

He was selfish,
all the women agreed.
Look at the poor woman,
her home in disrepair,
her clothes worn.
Yes, all agreed
his ways must change,
all but one.

Over the cacophony
of accusations,
A calm, clear voice
silences the room
with one question,
“Have you told him
what you want?”
