Why Did We Need to Move?

by Cheryl Merrick
For clean dry air to breathe
For a warmer winter
For not needing to shovel snow
For not worrying about slipping on ice
For not being snowed in during the winter
For sunshine and clear skies
For a newer, fresher, one floor home
For great cooling and insulation
For not having a floor which out-gassed or mold in the walls
For being able to paint our walls beautiful colors
For the kitchen we always wanted with pull out shelves
For good kitchen and home lighting
For a large pantry and laundry room
For a large master suite with an ample walk in closet
For a Great Room with high ceilings

For tile bedroom floors
For a cast iron claw foot bathtub
For a large open shower and double sinks
For each having a bathroom and bedroom
For lots of storage cabinets and closets
For a linen closet
For a playroom for grandchildren
For double doors between the house and garage area
For a separate cooled and heated visiting and guest room
For having books, recliner, and storage, close but out of the house
For cooking in the visiting room
For getting new appliances, truck, and trailer
For getting rid of many of our possessions
For the peace of simplifying our life
For a home that has not burned coal to heat
For a quiet cul de sac
For a private yard
For little car exhaust
For underground power lines
For plenty of parking space
For a low allergy gravel yard and patio yards
For a low maintenance home and yard
For being able to keep up our house myself
For living in a home and area where we can remain independent
For moderate living expences
For little grass, mowing, or spraying
For living in the desert with few pollens
For being able to tolerate polyester cushions
For a more casual, accepting, neighborhood and lifestyle
For a small town feel again
For outdoor events and socials
For being able to eat and to socialize outside
For being able to attend church
For being able to have online support from the neighborhood women
For the opportunity to downsize our businesses
For the opportunity for my husband to retire and work as he wants
For learning how to build cinder-block walls and stucco
For spending more time together as a couple
For gracefully leaving the Team
For time to write and think
For year round hiking and bike trails
For daily outdoor exercise and being in nature
For being able to travel
For being able to ride along when my husband runs errands
For the right doctors to perform our surgeries
For improved health for both of us and eyesight for me
For a home not filled with painful memories
For more distance from negative relationships
For giving our sons "space"
For leading the way for our daughter's family to move
For sharing time with her family
For spending time with our little granddaughter
For supporting our daughter's family
For their support of us
For seeing our other grandchildren again
For a new start and a new life
