Meeting Needs

by Cheryl Merrick
Yes, she is weak and incompetent,
but strength comes
from facing hard things.

Yes, she is lonely,

but when you shut yourself
in your home,
refusing to reach out in love,
you cannot expect anything else.

Yes, she struggles with caring

for her aging husband,
but she has chosen
remaining in "her home"
over having his sons
assist in his daily care.

Yes, she desires wealth,

control, and high social standing,
to give her a feeling of worth,
but only the development of her character
and the recognition of her relationship with God
are capable of giving her a true sense of worth.

If only she would try,

she would discover that
she always had the power within herself
to meet her own needs.
