by Cheryl Merrick
Pressured, just responding
to others demands,
I struggled through each day
trying to carve out a place
for myself in society
as a respected teacher and
responsible church leader
Living a half life,
foggy, tired, and confused,
I finally collapsed.
Blessed with time
to obtain an understanding
of how to use my medications.
I gained the ability to
more fully live my life
Finding stillness in
the quiet solitude
of being restricted to my home,
I learned to listen to His voice.
Slowly opportunities
to share my talents unfolded,
Giving me new peace and fulfillment
as I learned to serve
through writing,
