It's Spring!

Suddenly
all is different.

One day you awake to find
the solid frozenness of winter
melting into the muddy sogginess
of early spring.


Robins have returned.
Birds twitter with excitement 
as buds swell with life.

In the warm afternoon sunlight,
snow recedes,
leaving its memory in dirty piles
as it reveals the greening world
of spring.
