Christmas

The angels proclaimed peace
and joy to the world
on the night the Savior was born.

But how far from peace is the woman
    rushing from store to store
    seeking the illusive “perfect gift”?

Does food and presents,
    garlands, glitter and glow
    truly bring her family joy?
Is Christmas something she can “make”? 

Stressed and tired,
    the woman pauses.
As she ponders a Christmas carol,
    she remembers that
    her Savior is born,
    and, at last,
    peace and joy
    fill her heart.
