Seeing tender love in my husband's eyes,
Feeling the warmth in friends and family's hearts,
Experiencing opportunities to love in return,
to teach, counsel, and inspire,
I feel loved.
My words of gratitude
reach upward as
His love fills
my soul.

Appreciating Gifts
by Cheryl Merrick
To me I seem
to merely state the obvious.
I simply remind people
of the goal or principle,
or I might share some idea
on how to solve a problem.
Surely, these are things everyone
already knows.
At first I am surprised
at their appreciation,
then humbled
as I am reminded that
my clarity of vision
is a gift from God.

At BYU - Again
by Cheryl Merrick
What do they see when they see me?
Will they view my husband differently now?
Together we are awesome;
separate - pathetic
Do they see our unity and love?
Did they feel encouraged to have faith?
Did they see marriage as something desirable?
Something fun and joyous?
We were thanked for coming
and told we were like a comedy routine,
that we were cute,
and one young man even wanted to be like us.

Midst of Mothering
by Cheryl Merrick
Ever busy
Days crowded with spilt milk and lost shoes,
baseball games and dance lessons.
Evenings spent helping with homework at the kitchen table
and enjoying seeing your child in a school program.
Someone always needing your help--
Ever counseling, guiding, and teaching.
